Spend a Day at Patuxent Research Refuge
Just 27 minutes away from The Vine is the Patuxent Research Refuge. You can spend an afternoon immersed in nature or attend a community event at this local green spot. Support wildlife research and learn more about the natural world by taking a day trip to the Patuxent Research Refuge this month.
Start your morning off by going for a jog on the North Tract’s 20 miles of trails. Or, go horseback riding here. Admire different animal species while you wander around the refuge.
Hike the five miles of trails on the South Tract or go for a tram tour where you can delve into the subjects of management practices and wildlife habitats at the refuge.
Spend the afternoon in the National Wildlife Visitor Center where you can browse interactive exhibits and learn about subjects such as migratory bird studies, global environmental issues, endangered species, habitats and more.
Visit the Patuxent Research Refuge on February 24 from 2:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for Nature Songs with Stina. Nature Troubadour Stina will lead a fun and carefree singalong at this free, all ages event that will be held in the indoor auditorium.
